ROBIN BERNSTEIN

About

ABOUT

Robin Bernstein (born 1990) is a South African Photographer who deals with socio-spatial issues centred around land, history, industry and globalisation — both within his home country and further afield. His work is made in the context of collaborative interactions with his photographic subjects, and in turn the relationship that together —  they share with their environment. It is through this simple engagement with the duality between people and place that Robin seeks to situate his practice. Questions surrounding authorship and fractured authenticity are continually bought to the surface in his work.

In 2013, Robin attained a degree in photography at the Stellenbosch Academy and following that, a Bachelors in History of Art at the University of Cape Town.

Robin’s work has been acknowledged by various global organisations such as LensCulture (NED), PH Museum (ITA), The Contemporary African Photography Award and the Taylor Wessing Prize (UK).

Robin is based between London, UK and Cape Town, South Africa.
